Yesterday afternoon, June 17th, Gabor Talmacsi and Mol (Magyar Olaj), leading oil company in central Europe, sponsor of the Hungarian rider, presented to their national press the project that they are running in MotoGP together with the Scot Racing Team for the 2009 season. Rider, sponsor and team are already working to identify the conditions to cooperate also in the years to come. Talmacsi is one of the most loved Hungarian sportsmen. His 125cc World Title, in 2007, was a milestone in the motor sport history of his country. The press conference was held in front of the representative of all the national media at the New York Salon Hotel, in Budapest. Mr. Zsolt Hernadi, president of the Mol company was present as well as the management of Scot Racing, led by Cirano Mularoni, and Stefano Favaro, from Faster Management, who takes care of the rider's career. "I'm very proud to represent my country in MotoGP" said Talmacsi, who, next week, will take part in the Grand Prix of The Netherlands, with his team mate, Yuki Takahashi. "It's a circuit I like very much," added Gabor, who won twice (2005 and 2008, 125 class) at Assen, which is considered one of the most challenging tracks of the World Championship sporting calendar. This year the commitment will be even greater, in the highly competitive MotoGP class, riding a Honda Rc212V. He's optimistic. "I'm satisfied with my performance at the GP of Catalunya, and with the job done at the test, the following Monday" stated Talmacsi. "Everything is new, for me. But if I continue to progress as I did, I'm confident I can do well in MotoGP". "When I first tested the Rc212V by Honda, I immediately realised it was something totally different from what I used to ride" said the Hungarian. "Sometime I practice with a tuned CBR 1000, but there is no comparison. I've to say that, at the very beginning, I was a little scared. But it was exciting since the first moment. Having tasted a MotoGP bike, I'll never be back to 250. It's great". In the Monday test, Talmacsi was six tenth faster than in race. He put in place some simple solutions, as a spacer on the back of the saddle. Within the Scot Racing Team, Gabor Talmacsi is the rider with the best record at Assen. Not only he won twice in The Netherlands, but he achieved the success with bikes of two different brands. Moreover, he was on the podium also in 2007, when he classified third on his way to win his World title. On the contrary. Assen is not one that saw the best Takahashi. His top result was 6th, in 2006. He explained: "I never liked Assen too much, when I was a 250 rider. I didn't like Barcelona as well. But I've to say that with a MotoGP it's different, and I began to feel good also on layouts of that kind". He's determined to do well, but this year he has to face an additionally difficulty, as he suffered a micro-fracture to a finger of his hand in Catalunya. He was not able to take part in the Monday test, leaving Talmacsi to try out the solutions prepared by Emanuele Ventura, the Technical Director. "But this is not going to affect my performance" Yuki added. "We anticipated the test of some solutions to Saturday, so I had a chance to express my opinion to Emanuele. We know what we want".
