Montemelo - Hiroshi Aoyama is the Team Scot's rider who has achieved the best result at Montmelo, north-west of Barcelona, Spain. The Japanese rider skimmed the podium in 2005, when he classified 4th. That was a great time for Honda, at Barcelona, in the 250 class, with three riders in the top four places. Winner included. Raffaele De Rosa competed here only in the 125 class. His best result was 12th. Nevertheless, the Iberian peninsula is a favorable place for the young rider from Neaples. He got points in all three Spanish GPs (Jerez, Barcelona, Valencia) as well as in Estoril (Portugal). Yuki Takahashi has score to settle with Montmelo: that is the only venue where he has not been able to reach the podium. He was 2nd in Valencia and 3rd in Jerez, in 2005, his best season in the 250 class. Barcelona always eluded him: his best result, in Catalunya, was 7th, in 2005 & 2006. Hiroshi Aoyama (250cc rider): "Barcelona is my second home track, as I live here, during the season. I like the layout of Montmelo, and I'm confident I can improve my best result - which is 4th. A lot depends on the conditions of the track that hosted a F.1 race, recently: we don't know how the tarmac is, especially in the fast corners. A part for that, I hope in a sunny day. I know that we must work hard to set up the bike at the best, but I'm confident and my feeling is positive". Raffaele De Rosa (250cc rider): "Montmelo is one of the best tracks I know. Demanding, but I like it. Spanish riders, here, are always very strong. Against them it's going to be a fight, as usual. But I'm confident: by now, I've got enough experience to aim to a good result. But you have always to wait and see: in Mugello, for example, the rain changed everything. I hope in a shining sun, in Spain". Yuki Takahashi (MotoGP rider): "I did not like Montmelo, when competing in the 250 class, but I believe this is going to change because I feel really better in the fast corners with a MotoGP bike. Moreover, in Mugello my set-up was really good". Emanuele Ventura (Technical Director): "Mugello and Barcelona have common characteristics. Generally speaking, when a setup is good at Mugello, is good at Montmelo as well. The one we worked out for the Italian GP was good on the dry, but not yet so efficient on the wet. Therefore, if it is going to be sunny, I'm confident we can do a good race. If it is going to rain, we will have a chance to continue our work to better our setup for the wet".
